Structure
It consists of a tray, crossbeam, balance nut, indexing plate, scale, pointer, blade, base, scale, vernier, weight, nameplate, etc. The balance beam is supported by a fulcrum (axis) at the edge of the beam, forming two arms. Each arm is hung or supported by a plate, one of which (usually the right plate) holds a known weight object (weight), the other plate (usually the left plate) holds an object to be weighed, and the vernier scale slides on the scale. The pointer fixed on the beam indicates the weight of the object to be weighed when it does not swing and points towards the center scale or when the left and right swing amplitude is small and equal. There is a nameplate on the base of the tray scale, which records the maximum weight and sensitivity of the tray scale.
